November 10,
2011
Dear Peace Covenant
Family,
It is that time of
year again when we turn our attention to matters of stewardship and
our annual giving commitment to the church. We are sending this letter
to provide you with information about the coming year. We do so fully aware of the
difficult economic times in which we now find ourselves, and are
fully cognizant of the impact this is having upon you and your
family. Not
surprisingly, the same thing is true for the church.
November
13th will be Stewardship Sunday. Dr. Schenk will be preaching
on Matthew 6:19-21, and his sermon will be entitled, “Concerning
Treasures.” As part of
that sermon Dr. Schenk will be sharing with those in attendance much
of what the church is doing to meet these financial challenges. He will also be challenging
all of us to consider the church to be one of those places where not
only our treasures are, but our hearts also.
As your elected
leaders we will do everything we can to cut spending, reduce our
budget, promote giving, and make wise investment decisions so as to
maximize our financial position and be good stewards of God’s
blessings to our congregation.
Our 2012 budget will be less than our budget for 2011. At the same time we will be
exploring ways to increase revenues.
We need your
help. We need each of
you to prayerfully consider what your level of giving will be for
the coming year.
Enclosed you will find an estimate of giving card for
2012. We hope you will
bring this card to church this Sunday as we dedicate these pledges
to God, and seek God’s blessing on the giving of our time, talents,
and treasures.
Completing an estimate of giving card and returning it to the
church either on Sunday or through the mail will enable us to
finalize our budget for 2012.
We ask for your
prayers for our Church as we move into the future, fully confident
of God’s presence with us, and of our calling to be Christ’s Church
in this place.
In Christ’s name we
ask, while offering you God’s richest blessings,
Your Session
